In 2023 I was beyond honoured to work as the editor on this 5 episode docuseries by director Adhel Arop.

Katiba Banat: Sisters in Arms tell the stories of women who fought in one of Africa’s longest and bloodiest conflicts. The series weaves together the past and the present through interviews, rare archival footage, incredible animations, and footage juxtaposing the beautiful people and landscape of South Sudan with the Canadian cities and towns where the women and their families now live.

Our biggest priority with this series was to ensure that the women felt represented and proud of how they were portrayed. We consulted with them throughout the edit on their portrayal and the translations of Dinka, a Nilotic language without a universally accepted written form.

Katiba Banat was broadcast on Omni TV. You can watch it here. Stay tuned for the one-hour cut to be released in 2024!
