BECKWOMAN’S HIPPIE EMPORIUM

Nobody expected anything of Bonita Beckman. At school, she was completely inept. In romance, she was simply disinterested. As a child in the early 1950s, Bonita’s future did not look bright.

So she abandoned it all, dropping out at 16 and travelling the world, searching for happiness despite being branded a failure. At 34 she opened her whimsical and iconic Vancouver shop, Beckwoman’s Hippie Emporium–where she has spent the last 40 years proving everyone wrong.
